Cook Time: 20–25 minutes
Total Time: 30–35 minutes
Servings: 8 squares

Golden, flaky crescent dough wrapped around savory ground beef and melted cheddar – this cozy, no‑fuss meal comes together in minutes and bakes into a hearty, family‑friendly dinner.

Ingredients

IngredientAmount
Lean ground beef (96% lean)1 lb
Reduced‑fat crescent roll dough1 tube (8 oz)
Reduced‑fat shredded cheddar cheese1 cup
Garlic powder1 tsp
Salt and black pepperTo taste

Note: The recipe uses only 4 core ingredients (beef, crescent dough, cheese, garlic powder). Salt and pepper are assumed pantry staples.

Optional Low‑Point Hack

Replace half of the ground beef with finely chopped mushrooms or cauliflower rice. This keeps the recipe hearty while lowering the points.

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Lightly grease a baking dish (approximately 8×8 or 9×9 inches).

  2. Cook the beef – In a skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef until fully cooked. Drain any excess fat. Season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper.

  3. Prepare the bottom crust – Unroll half of the crescent dough and press it into the bottom of the greased dish, pinching the seams together to form a solid layer.

  4. Assemble – Spread the cooked beef evenly over the dough. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese on top.

  5. Add the top crust – Unroll the remaining crescent dough and place it over the filling. Press the edges to seal.

  6. Bake – Bake for 20–25 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.

  7. Cool and slice – Let cool for 5 minutes, then slice into 8 squares. Serve warm.

Serving Suggestions

  • Pair with a crisp green salad, steamed green beans, or a bowl of tomato soup.

  • Add pickles, coleslaw, or a side of hot sauce / ketchup for dipping.

Storage

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5–7 minutes or in the microwave.
