Three-Envelope Slow Cooker Roast
This impossibly easy roast lives up to the hype. With just three simple seasoning packets and a few minutes of prep, your slow cooker does all the work, transforming a chuck roast into fall-apart tender meat in a rich, savory gravy. It's the ultimate hands-off dinner—perfect for busy weeknights or a comforting Sunday meal.
Ingredients
| Ingredient | Quantity |
|---|---|
| Chuck roast | 3 lbs |
| Dry Italian dressing mix | 1 packet |
| Dry Ranch dressing mix | 1 packet |
| Dry brown gravy mix | 1 packet |
| Water | 1 cup |
| Salt and pepper | To taste |
| Baby potatoes, carrots, chopped onions (optional) | As desired |
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Roast
Lightly season the chuck roast on all sides with salt and pepper. Place it in the bottom of your slow cooker.
Step 2: Make the Gravy Base
In a small bowl or measuring cup, whisk together the Italian dressing mix, Ranch dressing mix, brown gravy mix, and 1 cup of water until smooth and fully combined.
Step 3: Assemble in the Slow Cooker
Pour the prepared gravy mixture evenly over the roast. If you're adding vegetables, scatter them around the meat, tucking them into the liquid as much as possible.
Step 4: Slow Cook
Cover and cook on HIGH for 4–5 hours or on LOW for 7–8 hours, until the meat is fork-tender and easily shreds. For extra moisture and flavor, you can spoon some of the cooking juices over the roast once or twice during cooking.
Step 5: Serve
Once the roast is tender and the vegetables are cooked through, serve it warm with plenty of the delicious gravy spooned over the top.
