Bacon, Egg and Cheese Sandwiches

There's nothing quite like a classic Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Sandwich—crispy bacon, a perfectly fried egg, and melty cheese tucked between slices of golden, buttery toast. It's the ultimate breakfast comfort food, ready in minutes and guaranteed to satisfy.

Ingredients

IngredientQuantityNotes
Bacon8 slices
Large eggs4
Sandwich bread4 slices
Cheddar or American cheese4 slices
Butter or oilAs neededFor the pan
Salt and black pepperTo taste

Servings: 4 sandwiches

Directions

1. Cook the Bacon
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, turning occasionally. Transfer the cooked bacon to a plate lined with paper towels to drain. Pour off most of the bacon fat, leaving just a thin coating in the pan.

2. Toast the Bread
Lightly butter one side of each bread slice. Place the bread, buttered side down, in the same skillet over medium heat. Toast until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes. Set the toasted bread aside.

3. Fry the Eggs
Add a small pat of butter or a drizzle of oil to the skillet. Crack the eggs into the pan and fry to your preferred doneness—sunny-side up, over easy, or firmly cooked through. Season with salt and pepper.

Tip: For perfectly set whites without flipping, cover the pan with a lid for the last minute of cooking.

4. Assemble the Sandwiches
Place a slice of cheese on four pieces of toasted bread (the untoasted side facing up). Immediately top each with a hot fried egg so the cheese begins to melt. Divide the bacon evenly over the eggs.

5. Close and Serve
Top with the remaining slices of toasted bread, buttered side out. Slice in half if desired and serve warm.

Tips

  • Bread options: Texas toast, sourdough, or English muffins all work beautifully.

  • Cheese choices: American cheese melts creamily, while cheddar adds sharper flavor.

  • Make it a meal: Serve with fresh fruit, home fries, or a simple side salad.
