Makes: 6 burgers
Prep time: 15 minutes
Cook time: 25 minutes
Ingredients
1 pound ground beef
½ cup chopped pepperoni
1 can (about 15 oz) pizza sauce
1 clove garlic, minced
½ cup chopped onion
1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
6 burger buns, split
Tools
Large skillet
Baking sheet
Instructions
1. Preheat & Brown
Preheat oven to 400°F.
In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, onion, and garlic until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess grease.
2. Simmer the Filling
Return the beef mixture to the skillet. Stir in the pizza sauce, pepperoni, and Italian seasoning. Bring to a simmer and cook for 3–5 minutes, until heated through.
3. Assemble
Place the split buns cut-side up on a baking sheet.
Spoon the warm beef mixture evenly onto the bottom halves of the buns. Top each generously with shredded mozzarella.
4. Bake
Bake for 10–12 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly and the bun edges are lightly toasted.
For crispier buns, you can toast the tops separately in the oven for the last 3–4 minutes, if desired.
5. Serve & Enjoy
Remove from the oven, top with the remaining bun halves, and serve hot.
Tips & Topping Ideas
Make It Your Own: Add sliced olives, mushrooms, bell peppers, or extra pepperoni before baking.
Kid-Friendly: Use mini slider buns for fun, portion-sized servings.
Freezer-Friendly: Prepare the filling ahead and freeze; thaw, assemble, and bake when ready.
For a Crispier Bite: Brush the buns lightly with garlic butter before adding the filling.
